楓樹糖(maple sugar ),又叫糖槭或者糖楓, 是一種高大落葉喬木。 高達
40米,樹齡可達500年。 樹幹中含大量澱粉, 冬天成為蔗糖。 天暖蔗糖變
成香甜的樹液。 如在樹上鑽孔, 樹液便源源流出。 樹汁熬製成的糖叫楓糖
或槭糖。它是“楓葉之國”加拿大最具代表性的特色產品之一,年產楓糖3.2萬
噸,占全世界總產量的80%以上。

加拿大被稱為“楓葉之國”,國旗上那一片楓葉就代表了這個特點。楓樹不僅
看起來養眼,用楓樹樹液製成的楓糖還十分養胃。因此,秋天賞楓,春天過
楓糖節,品嘗新鮮的楓糖漿,就成了加拿大獨有的風情。

加拿大東岸共有近百種楓樹,其中安大略省、魁北克省的楓林最多。在近百

Maple syrup is a syrup usually made from the xylem sap of sugar maple, red maple,
or black maple trees. These trees store starch in their trunks and roots before the
winter, it then converts to sugar that rises in the sap during late winter and early
Spring. Maple trees are tapped by drilling holes into their trunks and collecting the
exuded sap, which is processed by heating to evaporate the water, leaving the
concentrated syrup. Maple syrup is one of the most popular and representative
product in Canada¸ its output encounters more than 80% in the world.

Maple symbolizes Canadian people and its land, it serves as an important food
source for the country. The sap made the aboriginal people alive in the past. The
maple tree blooms in fall which colors the region with the red leaves. In early spring,
Canada celebrates the “Maple Syrup Festival”, one of the special festival in the
country.
